It is not the first time that Facebook tries to take the Internet to areas where it does not arrive. For some time Facebook collaborated on something like the drones that would take the Internet to remote places.
The Facebook project to share the Internet is called Telecom Infra Project and in it was Aquila, Terragraph and also its impulses to bring high quality Internet to the urban areas where the connections are very dense. What’s more, Facebook has not been the only one who has tried it but Google had its own project of drones to bring the Internet to various parts of the planet.
How is the new Facebook helicopter?
After embarking on the solar drones 2 years ago now Facebook has concluded that the best way to bring the Internet to areas where it was necessary for emergencies was to take a helicopter.
At the F8 Developer Conference, Mark said the Tehter-Tenna helicopter would provide the Internet at critical times, even for months in an emergency. This small helicopter what it does is to exercise as in line of Internet and infrastructure.
These helicopters seem autonomous and would not have any type of pilot
If the connection was good, Theter-Tenna could create an infrastructure of towers in the area to cover a larger area. And yes, it could be operational in a short time and run for months in an emergency, while ground communications were repaired or other problems occurred.
It should be remembered that Facebook does not only work on this type of projects but the fact is that they are of great help to many people and are there to provide stability and connection when it is needed. Obviously in this way maybe Facebook can control the traffic in those times and environments but it would be good because it is doing something good for those who need a connection when they do not have it, or not?
