Study: My Understanding of Printing

How Fine Art Printing Is Done. Fine art printing excludes the prints done by modern day technology since it has been in existence long before technology. The art pieces of fine arts have been done by art masters and others have been made by well-known artists that have put a mark in the art world. The pieces of fine art take time and concentration to come out as successful pieces and there are failures behind every success. There are four well known methods in which fine art is made and they include; planography, screen printing, relief and intaglio. The named method has been used to make the most known pieces and still under use. The process in which all the methods are done is explained below. The most and longest use method of doing fine art printing has been the relief method. The person doing the art uses a sharp cutting object to cut out the piece of material they want to use in making the art piece. The wood pieces are sculptures using knives and shapes intended carved out. The pieces would then place in ink and printed on the desired surface, either paper or canvas. The process would involve application of pressure for even application of the ink on the paper. The wood and paper is then separated after some time when the paper is dried not to tear up.

The planography method is done by ink being spread on a piece of stone and then removed. The stone is applied with a layer of oil for easy displacement of the artwork from the stone. The painting is then done on the rock. Removing of the art work is done after the piece has dried up well fro completion.

Screen-printing is done by applying special glue on the surface that is not to be printed. This is the most recent form of printing and is mostly associated with large-scale printing. Screen-printing is currently used to print designs in pieces of cloths and papers, The last method is intaglio where by the art is done by woodcarvings. The protruding art piece in the wood is place in ink to pick the paint and then pressed against the surface to be worked on. Paper and cloth are the most used surfaces and any other surface that can hold the ink. The processes can produce any size but the bigger the size the longer it will take to produce one. You therefore need to be cautious about deadlines.
